Fairmont Hotels & Resorts today announced a new development on the southern coast of Bali, Indonesia scheduled to open in 2016.

Perched on a ‘bukit’, or bluff, on the spectacular Balinese coastline with a spectacular and unobstructed view of the Indian Ocean, Fairmont Bali will offer guests 170 luxurious guest rooms and suites as well as branded residences.    Denniston International, one of the industry’s leading hospitality design and planning firms, will oversee the project with their trademark approach of translating local culture into contemporary design.

Guests will enjoy a variety of dining options from casual to elegant and extensive recreational facilities including a spa and 18-hole golf course.  White, sandy beaches and leafy, tropical trees combine to form an enticing backdrop to an exclusive beachclub perfect for relaxing, swimming and a variety of water sports while a diverse selection of indoor and outdoor venue spaces will ensure seamless events for both corporate functions, social occasions and weddings. Bali offers a wealth of cultural attractions as well as activities ranging from visiting Balinese temples, shopping for handicrafts and jewelry to boating, or for the more adventurous, horseback riding, scuba diving, parasailing and much more.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, GIANYAR - Government sets to draw 20 million foreign tourists to visit Indonesia in 2025. Bali is expected to be the main destination.
Coordinating Minister of Economy, Hatta Rajasa, said Bali, Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) and Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) were in the corridor V in Master Plan for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesian Economic Development (MP3EI). The focus of corridor V is a gate of tourism and marine-based national food security.
"The main pillar is Bali," Rajasa said on Saturday.
Rajasa explained that Bali had the capacity to support realizing the target. Besides its beautiful nature, Bali is blessed with friendly inhabitants. "If we can maintain the condition, the target will be achieved," he said confidently.
According to the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia from January to October 2012 is 6.58 million people. It rises five percent from previous year. The target for 2012 is 8 million people.

TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA - Perhimpunan Hotel dan Restoran Indonesia (PHRI) memprediksi, tahun depan akan ada penambahan banyak hotel baru. Hal tersebut disampaikan oleh Wuryanti Sukamdani, Ketua PHRI saat jumpa pers di gedung SaPTA Pesona, Jakarta, Senin (3/12).
"Kebanyakan hotel bintang tiga dan hotel lima, ada di Jakarta dan Bali. Tahun depan juga banyak demand (permintaan) di hotel bujet. Penambahan hotel baru tidak hanya provinsi, tapi sampai ke pulau kecil, terutama hotel bujet," jelas Wuryanti.


Menurut Wuryanti, sepanjang 2012, terdata sekitar 15.300 hotel dengan total jumlah kamar berkisar 240.000. Sementara itu, Menteri Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif Mari Elka Pangestu menuturkan, November ini, menjadi bulan terbaik sepanjang tahun bagi hotel-hotel di Jakarta.
"Banyak meeting (pertemuan atau rapat) yang dikejar sebelum akhir tahun," ungkap Mari dalam kesempatan yang sama. Data BPS dan Pusdatin Kemenparekraf menyebutkan, rata-rata tingkat penghunian kamar (TPK) hotel berbintang di 20 provinsi di Indonesia pada Oktober 2012 sebesar 54,90% atau naik 0,03 poin dibandingkan bulan Oktober 2011 sebesar  54,87%.

Berdasarkan provinsi, kenaikan TPK tertinggi terjadi di Lampung sebesar 14,01 poin, Kalimantan Barat 7,76 poin dan Kalimantan Timur  6,33 poin. Sementara itu secara kumulatif, rata-rata TPK hotel bintang dari 20 provinsi  pada Januari hingga Oktober 2012 sebesar 52,57% atau naik 0,05 poin dibandingkan Januari - Oktober 2011 sebesar 52,53%. 

Berdasarkan provinsi, kenaikan TPK tertinggi terjadi di Kalimantan Barat sebesar 9,46 poin, Jawa Tengah sebesar 7,50 poin dan DI Yogyakarta sebesar 4,22 poin.

 Statistic Highlights


  • By the end of October 2012 Foreign visitor had reached 688,3 thousand, an increase of 4,93% compared to same month in 2011 which reached 656,0 thousand visitor. A slight increase by 0,70% compare to last month – September 2012 
  • During month of October 2012, Foreign visitor Arriving at Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, had increased by 3,29% compare to same month last year,  from 244,4 thousand to 252,7 thousand arrivals. In contradict  a decrease of 1,17% compare to last month, September 2012
  • By cumulative (January-October) 2012, total Foreign visitor had reached 6,58 million, a 5,00% increase compared with the same period last year (6,27 million visitor).
  • Room Occupancy  achievement at  star rating hotels  (based on 20 province) for October 2012 on an average rate of 54,90%, a slight increase of 0,03 point compare to the same period on October 2011 as recorded at 54,87%. Compare to previous month - September 2012 , the average occupancy rate had increase by  1,94 point.
  •  Average guest length of stay, based on 20 province for October 2012 was recorded as 1,94 day, a decrease of 0,07 day compare to same month 2011.

Investments in Indonesian tourism doubles compare to 2011

Minister for Tourism and the Creative Economy, Mari Pangestu, speaking at the Indonesia Tourism Investment Day forum said;

 



















By the end of September 2012, Foreign investments in the tourism sector in Indonesia has doubled compared to the same period in 2011, reaching $7.29 billion. At the same peiod of 2011, a sum of $2.5 billion was invested in tourism. 

Domestic Tourism Investments also rose significantly from $7.3 billion in 2011 to $60 billion until September 2012.

The Indonesian National Tourism Master Plan identified 88 strategic destination clusters and 88 major destinations, of which 16 will be given priority development in the coming three to five years

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - About 83 out of 100 respondents in a survey conducted by Business Confidence Index (BCI) say that business prospect in Indonesia is promising. However, only 65 percent of respondents say of the ease of doing business here.
This survey involves senior executives of British companies. Chairman of British Chamber of Commerce (Britcham), Haslam Preeston, said that the gap portrayed contradictory in business environment in Indonesia.
BCI states that the most potential business sectors are retail, infrastructure, hotel and tourism, and service. "It also has significant challenges such as regulatory uncertainty, inefficient bureaucracy, slow infrastructural development and manpower issue," he said on Tuesday.
He recommended Indonesia to simplify governmental service to create more conducive atmosphere. He also urged Indonesia to consult and discuss with local and international business sector before implementing new regulation.
Chairman of Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Chatib Basri, welcomed the result of BCI survey. He said that even though the ease of doing business in Indonesia was not as high as its business prospect, investors still put their money in Indonesia.
"The problem does not prevent them to come and invest in Indonesia," Basri said.

Penandatangan Kerjasama antara Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Bandung dengan John College



Canada, 7 November 2012 | Dalam rangka peringatan 60 tahun hubungan diplomatic Indonesia-Canada, sekaligus penjajakan kerjasama dengan Mc. Gill University serta penandatanganan kerjasama dengan John Abbott College yang disaksikan oleh Duta Besar RI untuk Canada, Ibu Dienne H. Muhario. Sebagai langkah awal kerjasama, dalam bidang pertukaran tenaga pengajar John Abbott College dengan STP Bandung terutama dalam bidang bahasa Perancis.
Kegiatan yang lainnya adalah Kunjungan Kerja ke Leeds Metropolitan University adalah sebagai tindak lanjut kerjasama joint programme International Tourism & Hospitality Management, yang pada kesempatan ini pula ketua STP Bandung melakukan pertemuan dengan berbagai pihak guna kemajuan program di masa yang akan datang.

Serta berkesempatan juga untuk bertemu dengan Chairman Institute of Travel & Tourism (ITT), Dr. Steven Freudmann, serta Dr. Bill Maxwell, financial Director.  Dan disepakati bahwa ITT akan menunjuk STP Bandung sebagai international partner pertama di dunia untuk sertifikasi kompetensi manajerial di bidang Travel & Tourism.

Competency Standards for the Hotel and Restaurant industry in Indonesia.



 
Under the auspices of the Indonesian Australia Partnership for Skills Development Program, AusAID has funded the development of competency standards for the hotel and restaurant industry in Indonesia.
After extensive consultation with major Indonesian hotel and restaurant industry stakeholders, Perhimpunan Hotel dan Restoran Indonesia (PHRI) developed a benchmark set of standards for the industry in Indonesia. The following units of competency are based jointly on those of PHRI and the most recent Australian competencies. The standards have been circulated widely to senior personnel representative of all the relevant industry sectors and feedback has been obtained trough a range of methods including focus groups and official project committees.
